I've been looking to get an HD LCD and a couple stores has a 46in Toshiba on sale. I've been wanting to get a samsung only because I know ppl with them and haven't had any problems. I know Toshiba is generally a good brand, but are their LCD TV good quality?

I wish I could help, but I've got a Vizio. I always here bad stuff about Vizio's but mine has been good for 2 years.

Im sure Toshiba is good.

I've heard good things about Panasonic as well, which is what I have. I almost got a nice Toshiba but it was more than I wanted to spend.

The ones I have the most issues with at my work are Vizio's, Sylvania's, and Philips/Magnavox. We don't really deal with Toshiba's, so I don't have any first hand experience with them, but I've heard good things. Also, you really can't go wrong with a Sony or Samsung TV either so if you want to expand your options you can always look into those

This part doesn't help much, but I have a 37 inch Sylvania that suddenly took a dump a couple months ago. Last night I finally got around to looking at it and found a popped fuse. I replaced it, and voila, it works. I thought for sure it would pop again, but I watched it for an hour.

Anyway..... I'll shut up about that now.

My Brother recently bought a 50 some odd inch Samsung LED with the Motion Plus. He absolutely loves it.

Ive always heard Samsung makes the best LCD and LED and Panasonic is best in Plasma. Toshiba is generally a good brand though so I would think they make a decent TV. I love my Panasonic plasma though.

I've had a Samsung with no problems at all. Kind of like Shane, only problem I had was external. Storm took out the rotor, left with only two channels, next storm blew the antanna around so I was down to only one channel for 2 hours in the morning and maybe two at night. $700 later, get all kinds of channels.

I have a nice 46" Toshiba.

I like it. Good picture, good color, haven't had any problems with it.

The only thing I'm not wild about is the theater settings. Sometimes when I watch older TV shows on Netflix I have to play with the picture settings to get it so that the image takes up the whole screen without being cut off. That may be a product of the Xbox and not the TV though as some games did the same thing before I got an HDMI cable for the Xbox.

Oh, and sometimes when changing the input with universal remotes it will skip back to the one before the one you wanted.

How is plasma these days? I've heard the life expectancy is roughly 2 yrs and is horrible for watching SD TV channels and such. I know they tend to be cheaper than LCD.

Had a 42" LG plasma, it died within a year and was not repairable. LG refunded my money to me and I bought a 46" Sony Bravia. It has been flawless for 3 years now. I have a 32" Bravia in the bedroom as well, it's been flawless for 4 years now.

I love mine. 1080p 600hz. Picture quality is great on it even with SD channels. The blacks are incredible. I'm not real sure on the pricing between plasma and and LCD.

I have a 42" Panasonic Viera plasma tv for almost a year now. Picture quality on SD is a little lower than I'd like but the colors are amazing. HD video from my blu-ray player is really awesome looking though. Haven't had any problems with the TV itself since I got it, and its not showing any signs of going out anytime soon either.

Sony is my favorite brand for anything but car audio. They make great products. They take a back seat to Pioneer in car audio IMHO.
