Hey guys i was rooten around the U-Pull today and found the last model of ford Taurus with the Vulcan 3.0L V-6 and it had a larger intake plenum than the 3.0L Ranger which included and Wwwwaaaaaayyyyyyy biggar throttle body and biggar ports so it seemed on the lower cast aluminum intake manifold, has any body tried swapping to the Taurus style intake on a side note it also has what looks like a flapper door style air flow meter molded into it.

Also would the fuel injectors out of a 3.4L V-8 Taurus motor fit on a 3.0L just wondering for the future lol.

you posted this in the wrong thread man this is the trucks for sale thread lol

you cant, pm one of the mods and they will fix you up

They will fit but you will have to retune the ecu. They will flow more htan your car needs and will make you run horribly rich.

The intake can be made to fit, but not without a custom adapter plate which unless you can CNC or Fabricate like a MOFO. its rediculously expensive.

or really shit that kinda sucks i was hoping maybe get some more hp but oh well what is it exactly that you have to modify to make it work is it the lower intake or does it hit the break booster?

so what has to be machined to make this work it works fine on the
Taurus and its all the same motor?

Not sure but since the taurus motor is mounted side way, the intake might be coming in on the wrong side compared to the ranger.

the newer composite (plastic) plenum bolts right to the older style aluminum lower intake manifold, the only modification needed is drilling the plenum holes out to accept the larger bolts from your older manifold (from 6mm to 8mm or some such thing). the composite plenum will give you a small boost in performance (5hp or so). it also gives you the option of a removable throttle body...which the older cast aluminum plenums did not.

im not sure what your talking about in reference to a flapper door style air meter. ford did away with vane air flow meters in the early '90's and ive never seen any form of MAF molded into the intake. are you sure your looking at an intake from a 3.0 vulcan and not a 3.0 duratec, 3.8, 3.0 sho, or 3.4 v8?

yeah man im totally positive i thought there were the only three available plenums for the 3.0 vulcan 1. the cast one w/o removable throttle body 2. cast one w/ removable throttle body 3. the composite ones on the newest style ranger vulcans.
BUT there was this one and it looked a lot biggar in plenum volume compared to the other plastic one and it had this thing in the back and i removed it and it was some type of flapper i was thinking either some weird air flow meter or... variable intake but with only single ports in the head instead of the duals like the escort SPI heads but it definetly was a vulcy, the guys said 70 bucks for the heads, lower intake and upper plastic intake, i want to do a P&P job anyways so why not lol

id like to see some pics of this flapper thingy if you get the intake. the vulcan has never come with any kind of variable intake, swirl plate, or any other intake plates aside from the throttle plate that i know of. what year is the taurus your looling at?

i don't know what year but its the last model made before this brand new style (09) but the plenum is weird because its really big like fat unlike the ranger style which is quite small and skinny.
