My credo
A legend to the old man, a hero to the child...
We got 5 dogs and the wifes tired of us using her fusion (and its not really big enough once the basset hound takes up the whole back seat) to tote them to the park or whatever. I refuse to let them in my truck and the broncos a bit to high for them to get in and out of.

We might be shopping for a cheap to buy, cheap to insure van and i figured an aerostar might be perfect...would love to find a 5speed but that wont happen.

Anyways...what was the last year for the A4LD? Want to avoid that if possible.

Not exactly sure but I think it was somewhere around 93-95. I know my 92 Ranger has an A4LD and I know dad had bought a 95 Explorer for parts years ago and it had an early 4R44

I wouldn’t be afraid of an A4LD with a bigger auxiliary cooler and some valve body work with a shift kit plus making sure the bands are adjusted.

I really dont want another project right now lol. But really the furthest we would pry travel with it is like an hour.

I was thinking 94 was the last year for them but wasnt sure. Econolines are on my radar too but the wife probably wouldnt wanna drive it.

94 was the last year of the A4LD in the Ranger and Explorer. I would take an educated guess and say it’s the same for the Aerostar.

So i guess 95-97 is target
