Large water leaks in cab-both driver and passenger side

When my Ranger was leaking I decided the carpet needed to dry out because the water sat there for weeks. I pulled the seats and yanked the carpet...well, thought I could yank the carpet...it weighed close to 100 lbs from what I figured was water absorption...so I made a saddle horse (like a saw horse) and hung it up to dry...it dripped for three days at least and when it finally felt dry to the touch I picked it up and it weighed about 25 lbs..

My truck was much faster after that...:)

There's a lot of good suggestions here. I'm having a similar issue on my '88 XLT. Cleaned out what I could reach through the access panels on the firewall then hose out all the crap that had gotten through the slots in the cowl and the drains on both side were running clear. I'm on the Oregon coast so we get plenty of rain here and I let it sit for a couple days and no leak. Put the carpet back down and a couple days later it was soaked again. Pulled the front window trim and no rust holes in sight so my next attempt will be removing the right fender. Should be pretty easy and fingers crossed I'll find the leak.

Also check the rain gutters on the roof panel, above the doors, that they're still sealed good with body caulk. No missing caulk, no open seams and no rust perforations.
