Trim that bracket. On my 63's the bracket did two things..kept the springs lined up (good) but the bracket wrapped around and over the top of the leafs (bad for flex). When the spring droops on flex the brakcet holds the leafs together, does not allow the springs to seperate between each other. Decreasing flex. I noticed a big difference. Just trim the tabs that over lap the top spring, but not the side the sides so it still keeps them in line. Make any sense lol.
