Progress

Got the frame stripped of all the junk...ford like to use rivits...I think I knocked out at least 30 of em so far!

Then I wired wheeled the inside of the frame, primered it and started tacking in my boxing inserts.

Got my radius arms extended and tacked together. If you look close, you can see the 1.5* of correction I built in. Hopfully with that and the 7* bushings I can tuck the heims up inside of the frame, more on that when I get to that....

then this also showed up the other day

Gonna finish up the the boxing, then start on my tranny crossmember.

I really want to do some wheeling, and I could have it done sooner if I wanted to half ass it, but I want it done right. I am hoping it will be close sometime late Spetember, we will see. I have spent all the money on parts, now I just have to make them all work together!

Hell, and to be honest, I feel like I am being lazy, I could be a lot farther!

Looks great! Ive heard of a few different ways to do it but was wondering how you measured and cut the steel for the frame....how do you get an accurate template to cut from without hours of extra grinding? also wondering what you cut it with?

Are you gonna put in a couple drain holes for water to get out?

What made it easier was it being just a bare frame, but I just used card board and I traced the frame onto it, cut it out and fit it nice. Then I just laid the template on some .200 thick stock, traced, then used a plasma to cut it out. I mainly just tried to keep them small figuring the C channel frame could be tweaked to fit my insert. U used a big C clamp to pinch the frame as I tacked it in so I didn't have any big gaps....went really good!

Just luck I guess, but I think your look great. I went back and looked at our before I did mine fore some inspiration!

Drain holes? Maybe, the frame already has a bunch of holes in it, but one up front and one in the back would be nice to flush it out with the hose....

Ok, update for the day...

Finished welding the inserts, turned out real nice. Then I modified my stock tranny crossmember to work with the boxed frame. The once side is supposed to sit inside the frame, I flipped it to sit under and keep everything in factory positions. I will add bracing and maybe another gusset to the side of the frame, not sure if I like just one bolt on the drivers side holding up the tranny, but it mounts with the factory hardware right now. Than I also repaired the body mounts and stripped and painted more frame....on with the pictures!
