KYB Shock Install Question

Hey guys, just a quick question about the installation of the KYB gas adjust shocks. The instructions are pretty useless.
Most other shocks i see have a built in nut to hold onto for removal while this one does not.
The kit comes with two nuts as seen below. Am i correct to assume that a nut goes in first all the way to the bottom fo the top shaft, then the other nut is for the top of the shaft?
I put the shock in already and didn't use the second nut and the top bushing is nice and compressed while the bottom isn't.
Just figured i'd ask and make sure before i take it all apart again. Thanks!

There is a special tool to hold the nub on the top of the shaft, both nuts go on the top and you hold the shaft with the special shock tool. One nut tightens it up, the other is there just to lock it.

The order should be large washer - bottom bushing - frame - top bushing - large washer - nut - nut.

Wow. I always used a small wrench or pair of pliers.

You need to put the weight of the vehicle on the tires before tightening up the top nut.

Edit... this will get the bushings to compress equally.

That's fine for installing them but once they get rusty and you need to take them off the tool really helps. It's only like 10 bucks.

Yes but like @Uncle Gump said, you need to drop the weight down before tightening.

Gotcha, had a jack stand on the jack point on the lower arm during install but will check it again with the tire on. Thanks

Tighten only until the bushings are squished to the same size as the washers.

Costs the same as the actual tool with both the top and bottom though...

I got mine for 8 dollars and it has 4 different shock tip sizes. The tool just works better lol.
