just wish i had the time, motivation,and tools to do them myself. I figure with everything else that has to be done to the truck i have a buddy that will set them up for a good deal (and they will be done right) then i can concintrate on getting the truck whiped into shape. plan on taking some trips with her this summer and want it to be reliable. trucks gone wild is suposed to be up here this summer. i'm not sure if i want to take the exp to that event or just take the wife's car and a BIG COOLER. i'm leaning to the second option however i'm not much of a drinker so i may just take the truck down to alleast represent the club IDK

WELP. got the gears in. 5.13's master install kits, and an open front carrier 3.92 and up. still waiting for the open 9" 3rd member that will be dropped off with my tires. will order an aussie for the rear tomorrow. the front will remain open for a little while till more money comes in then i can throw that in myself.
hard to believe that's almost 700$.

took her out wheelin last weekend and recieved some minor trail damage. still dont know whats up with the clutch. threw a fresh battery in her started her up and drove it in. so i'm not sure why it just quit working. it was a little low on fluid but it didnt take much in the reservoir.

broke the antenna off. threaded section is still in the hole

nice dent above the rear drivers window.

and some lovely U.P. pinstriping

the front bumper as of now. still have alot to finish up on it. but it was at least somthing to protect the front.

oh yeah and to get it in and out of the garage i have to put it on the stockers. still only have about 1" above the roof when going thru the door.

just after gettin it on big tires, I took a buddie for a ride that owns an audio shop. he offered help me get some better sound outta what was there (until i want to get some better speakers). so we did as follows to all 4 speakers. (aparently it sounded horriable before)

all 4 speakers are installed in the same fashion

removed the speakers to find this. MORE AWSOME WIRING. if it looks like its soldered it's not. the wire is ran thru the hole in the terminal and twisted back around itslef thats it. we put on some really nice connectors but i never got any pictures of that.

removed the speaker and then the speaker housing

then we took whatever this material is he uses and applied it behind the speaker housing

then we cut more material and covered the front of the housing followed by cutting a hole for the speaker to fit snugly into and remounted everything.

To be 100% honest. i dont really care about sound quality since the music is way down most of the time im in it(im wheelin most of the time) and if i didnt have someone offering to help i wouldnt have done this. but i do have to say it does sound WAY better. dont get to thinking you will ever see big subs in this or anything cuz there is no chance of that happening. the only thing i have thought about is tying my external speaker port of my cb into the aux port on my radio to better hear that. but that's bout it. if i ever get to that point where i want to drop some coin and have nothing better to spend it on i might buy some nice speakers but these get the job done until then.

5 SPEED/M5OD SWAP.

the 5 speed went in as posted in about every swap thread. the only odd things I ran across is that the explorer didnt have a disconnect for the trans harness so it was clipped off and each wire was sealed individually. i did tie in the appropriate wires for the reverse lights (more of that in the next couple weeks when i mount the better reverse lights). the only other issue should be resolved shortly. i am using the computer outta the mazda which is a 94 egr 4.0 and the 93 exp is a non egr motor so i'm throwin a couple codes for that which i'm sure is causing me to loose some power and get worse milage (never seems to work the other way). so hopefully while its down i can find the correct computer


other than that I had to remake a floor bezzel since the one from the mazda was soo busted up. think it turned out rather nice.

mazda column, cluster, and 4x4 swithc block off

trans and t-case shifter (using a gen 1 shift knob for whatever reasone) think this turned out pretty nice. one of the perks of my job is the floor plate is Stainless steel that was layin in the tin shop as scrap. the rivets holding the boots down have backers behind them and are pretty solid. dont think i will have any issues with them pulling thru.

A hide away storage unit under the floor somehow in the trunk of her? I have the mind to do that to the bed of my truck since I have a ton of relestate under mine (mind you Im a 6foot 2inch guy and can cleanly hide under the bed above my axle where the tire rack use to be).

hope everyone is having a good and at least somewhat productive holiday weekend.
just takin a break from workin in the garage to cool off inside. its a toasty 85 degrees in there right now (barely hits that in the summer) the wood furnace started to run away a bit so i threw a little snow on her but it's gonna take a little while for it to cool down even with the door open.

If I had a wood burner in my garage, I would be outside all the time but I only have a kerosine heater and that gets expensive fast but may have to do it if I get what I need for my 5.0 swap sooner then later (tax check time that is).

typically i get home from work spend a couple hours with the kid and then spend the rest of the remaining night in the garage. on weekends i like to be out there by 3 or 4 and will typically be out there for a good 12 hours or so.

if you do the math and look at the amount of work that gets done you can figure i spend alot of time sittin on my ass in the 70's green rocking chair. the wife allways gives me a hard time cuz it seems like i hurry up and get somthing done then i sit and relax until she comes and visits then once she leaves i hurry up and get another thing done then sit and relax till she comes back cuz i'm allways got my feet kicked up when she comes in but there is allways noticable progress.

my thinking chair. alot of planing and contemplating gets done in that chair along with the ocasional nap.

i take alot of care not to get it too grunged up. now that i have mentioned the chair and you can kinda see the location. it might make sense why soo many pictures have been taken from the front driverside corner of projects. hahaha.

Wait have I missed something here??? Isnt that the axle from the BII and if so then what is under it now and why was it taken out????

old pic, dont panic. still rockin the waggy 44. if that ever lets go in a bad way its goin fullwidth HD44 that is unless he comes across a waggy 44 for cheap to free. he does have a couple sets of spare axle shafts so he should be set for awhile. he is very easy on the loud pedal for the most part. once in a great while it might go over 3500 rpms hahaha

well i got the rocker on the driverside shaved. still need to cut the bottom of the fender but I am still tryin to decide if i'm gonna cap it all in underneath or just leave it like it is and just undercoat it. if i just leave it and undercoat it it will make it nice for washing that i can get everything out. if i cap it in im sure it will fill with mud and whatever else and most likely lead to further rust issues.

I left a small amount below the door so i can either roll the edge (if left bare) or have a little material to work with if i need to cap it in. Ide love to completely boatside it but that is little outta the question as of now.
