Hi Everyone. First time poster here. hopefully someone can give me some guidance. i got a Ranger 99 4.0l v6 2 wheel drive.
i got this problem that's been happening for about a year. it hasn't developed into a huge problem but i fear if i don't' fix it, that it will.
let me TRY to explain.
when i am stopped and i take off i heard a couple knocks. not engine knocks, no more than 2 or 3 knocks and not everytime. happens more when i am going up a hill from a stopped position. and it only happens from a stopped position. after i am going more than 10mph it will not happen no matter how hard i hit the gas. it diffinetely sounds like metal hitting metal. and its not when switching gears. again within the first 10mph. if i hear the first knock i can almost predict the next one depending on the momentum of the truck.
the other day it rained and it seemed like it happened way more frequently and today i don't even think i heard it. this could very well be a coincedence. last time i took it in the mechanic said i could stand to flush my tranny and my differential.
any ideas out there?
