Any idea how to keep my MAF sensor clean for a long period? It seems like I have had to clean it often lately. It is acting up in the foggy wet snow conditions were having up here in Maine. Any ideas?

I installed a K & N a couple months ago. I'm guessing the filter oil is have on MAFs?

An over oiled filer will foul your MAF. My truck had one when I bought it and I swapped it out for a paper filter and cleaned my MAF. Im not a fan. I did run one on my Harley but it has no MAF to get fouled.

A lot of guys are concerned about big particles and more intake of harmful stuff. Personally I send a lot of things worse than dust through my intake so ill stick with my K & N. I don't care as much about the flow as being able to wash it. Paper filters get expensive when you have to buy one a week from mudding. But I haven't washed it yet so it is just the stock amount of oil on it now.

This is your problem and you will not be able to keep the MAF clean as long as you have this setup, so switch is back to something sensible or get used to cleaning the MAF once a week.

You must be putting too much oil on it when you re-oil it. I haven't had to clean my MAF on my Mustang more than twice in the 15 years I've had my K&N on there.

That's supposed to say hard on MAFs not have haha

I have not oiled or cleaned the filter since I put it in. (I do regular maintenance no neglect)

I have a K&N and have never cleaned my MAF and its 10 years old.
You've probably over oiled it. Try back blowing the filter out with a high pressure air hose, then wipe out anything left on the inside.
