i recently installed a k&n fipk2 on my ranger. im getting a slight whine or whistle type noise not real loud but noticeable between 2500 and 3000 rpm when accelerating hard. is this the normal sound to expect? I re tightened all of the clamps and allen screws which were a hair loose.

thanks

Any aftermarket cold air intake will be louder than the stock setup. I'd say it is "normal" with the K&N installed.

It is normal like they said. The reason being most stock setups have an 'intake silencer' meant to baffle the noise. What this really does is disturbs teh airflow so that its not flowing as fast. (Volume/minute)

By installing an aftermarket intake its basically pulling the silencer out of the system and freeing up that restriction. You should hear one on a Toyota Sequoia. It sounds insane.
