Now that I got my Ranger running perfect the stupid dome light is staying on. I know it's the little switch on the passenger side door panel where the latch is but I don't have time or patience tonight.

The one on the drivers side is removed and has been for a number of years now because at the time it was too difficult to reinstall. I was thinking of getting new ones for both doors. Is this an item they sell at AutoZone or stealership only? Thanks.

You could probably snag em at a Junkyard for free if you have any near you.... Maybe check Napa Online (or others) to get an idea.

WD40 the shit out of it. Worked for me. I sprayed everything that moved w/ in the door. Havn't had a problem sense.

The door pins are pretty notorious for sticking.

Did it start working immediately after you sprayed it?

Think I'm going to go out and try it right now with PB Blaster and let it soak overnight. Thanks.

Use white lithium grease, it sprays in and wont get gunky like WD-40. Worked on mine and been years since!

I havn't had a gunk problem and they havn't stuck for the last 12 months too

please wear safety glasses when using the little nozzle tube on white lithium grease spray cans.don't ask me how i know.

I had that problem too. It annoiyed the heck out of me. It all stated when my dear old friend slammed my passenger door shut. WD-40 and some back roads, haven't had the problem again.

Gotta love when everything is fixed and an another problem occurs.

Well I did'nt spray it last night but rather this morning before I left to work and it started functioning again immediately. Thanks for the answers guys. Man I love this site! If this site keeps up I'll end up owning my gen Ranger forever...lol

Now I'm going to try to locate another door switch that's been missing from my drivers side door and install it.

Anyone know how they are removed/installed? It's been years since I took the old one out. Thanks.

I'm sure your's isn't much different than mine. You'll have to remove the door panel and vapor barrier. There are three or four screws at the bottom of the door panel that must be removed. If your truck has manual windows, you will have to remove the crank by prying up the plastic cover and removing the screw. There are also two or three screws on the door handle that must be removed. IIRC, the switch must be inserted into the slot under the door latch and twisted clockwise to lock it in place. Don't forget to plug it back in before putting the door panel back on.
