I just got a new 8.8 with 4.88s and a limited slip put in yesterday. I have been running 33s for a while now which made my speedometer read slow.

Anyone know what my speed would be, or close to now?

Info:

Stock tire size: 29 New tire size: 33

Stock gears: 4.10 New gears: 4.88

GPS is a great idea. It's stuck to the windshield so you don't even have to look down at the cluster.

I have a spreadsheet that makes it easy to figure out, but a garmin is $80 and is there all the time for you.

You can use the calculators on here, but I used the gps on my phone to get my actual speed and then got the the right gear to correct it

Those GPS units are actually fairly accurate? I didn't think I should trust one.

Mine is accurate enough. It is maybe 1mph off at 60mph.
Had my neighbor cop use his radar gun to check it.

Of course they are. All they are doing is some simple math between two points of reference and how quickly you covered that distance. I doubt it, but they might even have some calculus programmed, then its even more accurate as they go through a limiting process.

When I went on a trip with some friends they had one and it was dead on, it even told the speed of the area right as the sign passed for the change of speed.

You could just have a cop "help you out" too....if you get what Im saying :D

i used a speedo app on my android when i did my gear change to find out my actual speed compared to the dash speed, then using the calculators in the tech library i was able to order the correct tooth count gear from the dealer and now im dead on with the speedo app.
