You're a fien.........fi....friend & a scholar....

EDIT: I replaced the xmsn governor & speedo-drive gears......speedometer works again....it shifts really good 1st thru third, but still won't go into 4th until 65mph........the pressure in Reverse/First/2nd is up to 150 psi with the new governor......but only 55 psi in 3rd & 4th.......time to look at the troubleshooting manual again......in the A.M......

If I re-read you guys posts.....................I'm gonna havta put a coat on first!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm going in my nice warm go-rajj & rebuild the servo on the xmsn...it's got some bad seals & won't apply enuff pressure........now where did I put that Saints t-shirt & those cut-off blue jeans???????????????????

EDIT: last nite I finally got the seals/o-rings to rebuild the servo....

.everything was reassembled by midnite....while all four wheeels were off the ground, I ran it thru the gears...40mph into 2nd gear/65mph into 3rd gear/95 mph into 4th gear....the pump held steady at 150 psi while shifting & leveled out at 80 psi once each shift was complete....(power braking....it would go up as high as 280 psi......no wonder builders use a 300 psi test gauge!!!!!!!)

I'm putting the truk on the ground now to try it out...(looks like those corvette governors/servos ain't as bad as some say they are)

Dining out at it's finest!!!!!!!!!!!

:woot: shame that fugly tundra is messing your picture
beware of those... they have evil accelerators...

Funny, I stopped by Sonic for lunch today and thought about posting about it while I was waiting for my food, then I come home to find a picture of the '36 at sonic.

Road-trip today.......I had to change one of the corvette governor springs to a stiffer spring..no problem/it took 10 minutes..(there was no more shifting at 2200 rpm...the ranger was shifting thru the gears at 4500 rpm with the new governor!!!!!)

I was breaking the speed limit in 2nd gear!!!!!!

Talk about launching!!!!!!

It went into 4th at 70 mph......Whoaaaa.....watch that curve ahead!!!!!!!!

The last time I had a ride like that.....I was test driving a convertible Mustang!!!!

I'm hoping I guessed right & the stiffer spring will cause it to shift at 2500 rpm....I hate to think what it feels like in some of TRS's Rangers with more than 300 hp in their V-8s

UPDATE: under moderate accelleration, the Ranger was shifting 1st thru 3rd(30mph into 2nd/45mph into 3rd) at 3200 rpm.......................4th gear was kicking in at 3500 rpm (55mph) this afternoon.

Since I'm going to wire up the lockout solenoid to engage in 3rd & 4th gear, I want to lower the shift rpm's down to 2500....that way....when 3rd kicks in at 2500rpm, the converter will do a 3rd gear lockup until 4th kicks in.....then converter lock-up in 4th at 2800 rpm which will then drop the engine rpm down to 2000......well---that's the plan----plenty of go at WOT & gas mileage to get where I'm going on roadtrips......

EDIT: Friday nite....didn't hook up O/D in 4th gear...ran the roads all day in the Ranger...got home &.had to rebuild the 10 yr. old starter on the Harley.....Road trip tomorrow also/return on Sunday....maybe I'll drop the xmsn pan Sunday nite........
