Just Plain Stupied

Say goodbye to the tin foil/insulation.

I've been piddling with the fiberglass backing for the headliner....

it's rough-cut and screwed into place now....

it needs to be trimmed and covered with the grey headliner material---which reminds me that I need to get a few cans of spray adhesive tomorrow....

and post some pics tomorrow night!

Is it purpose built material, or something you "a-dapted"?

I originally inteded for it to be soundproofing/insulation...........

but it does a VERY good job of blocking-out the "voices"...............

but radio reception (am/fm) is terrible...maybe I shuld cut the antenna wire and solder it to the aluminum-covered liner :icon_bounceblue:

A little progress on the cab headliner:

I still have to pop-rivet the overhead panel to the headliner backer(it is not in exact position/part of it is drooping ovet the top of wndshield) and finish-trim everything befor covering the backer & painting the overhead panel to match the red dashboard.....

Looks like the wiper blades are in the "hidden park-position when that panel is in place----modern teknol0gee......

Now the NSA will be unable to: know that i have secret hi-tech invisible blocking-shield/follow me with satelites/listen to me talk to meself/send messages into my brain/etc.........but seriously--the NSA is doing a great job-I salute them.................

I was thinking of the fiberglass sheet.

The reason I asked is that I'll have to rehab the head liner in the new BII, and I'm looking at options.

I keep a couple of fishing rods in the truck, (Not that I ever get to use them, but its part of the therapy...) and they ripped up the headliner in my old truck.

I'm trying to figure out some kind of material or other option that will actually take some wear and not rip like Kleenex.

Sorry.....but the guy used a new aftermarket "cardboard" (that's how they were back then) and laid the fiberglass over it to make my "backing"...

he added a couple inches all the way around the fiberglass backing to allow for trimworki/fitting.

Tweed.

you can get it from any place that sells fabric, and use the M3 spray type glue to lay it down.

Robert

sent with a aftermarket sunburner, and bouncy ball.

No worries. May have to try that out myself. I'll have one from my old truck to 'speriment on.

Thanks,

Thanks, but I'm not sure that tweed would be compatible with fish hooks.

I thought about canvas or duck, though.

I looked at Sunbrella or some kind of vinyl coated canvas, but that stuff is pricey. Most runs near $30/yd and I'd need 3.

Wasn't planning on dropping another C-note for a headliner. :icon_confused:

well, you could just glass it, and then sand it smooth, the hardest part then would to be sure it was in the correct shape.

sent with a rooted incident, and a hard boiled egg.

I don't know what he used to keep the wet fiberglass matte from sticking to the aftermarket headliner....but the finish product fit fairly closely....it would have fit exactly if I could have installed it within a day or two after it was laid-----that way ti would still have been more flexible and would have conformed to the upper door jambs & overhead-windshield wiper panel .....

:icon_idea: which just reminded me----I can use a little hand-held propane torch to "warm" the fiberglass parts & clamp them in place until they cool down!

Thanks for the advice Men ;missingteeth;

I was referring to Chazzone problem, if he has problems with fish hooks, the could remove the headliner, and glass it. then smooth it down, and wha laa, no more problems with fish hooks getting caught in the liner.

Robert

sent with a bazooka and a pig tail.

That's what I'm thinkin'.

I wonder if I can mix some color in the resin.....

Thanks fellers. :icon_cheers:

make you a small sample with paint color in it to test it, because some of those paints and resin don't mix, plus it will make the drying time longer.

Posted with a cat tail and horse hair.

Just use duct tape.
