Just Plain Stupied, BlackWidow67's Build Thread

Man that sucks about the tranny... Truck is looking great!!

BUILD IT, BREAK IT, BUILD IT STRONGER, than repeat.

lol, thanks multi. i wouldnt be able to drive it right now anyway. the roads are icy here so i wouldnt wanna chance it with bald tires.

im looking foward to doing the tranny. theres a couple of kinks i wanted to work out anyway. and i never really liked the way the other trans shifted anyway. very firm out of first then very soft into second.

i like firm shifts, but this was actually annoying. next one will be a lot better.

thanks for all the compliments guys. helps me keep chugging along on this.

practice..........practice..........practive....oops.......

main thang is.......you got everything where it belongs....now to tie up all the loose ends & get it functionating properly!!!!!!!!!

compliments of IRON RANGER

The Black Widow

Up in the state of New York lives a mystery machine,

But it's not a psychedelic van that's puke green,

It's a 1984 Ford Ranger that used to look plain,

It was even on the brink of being slain,

Until one day, Dave raised his head from his pillow,

And shouted aloud and strong "I'm gonna call you Black Widow!"

It used to have a 4-banger powerplant,

until one day, the motor squealed "I just can't....",

Black Widow was down and out for a while,

But Dave refused to let it sit as a pile,

He wanted to put in a V8 motor like no other,

because he loves that Ranger like a brother,

Till one day, he said "I know! I'll use a Chevy!"

Most of us Ford lovers had hearts that were heavy,

But he got that 350 from a '72 Chevelle muscle car,

and told us all "This here is gonna raise the bar!"

He worked and worked on Black Widow day and night,

The finish line well in sight,

Putting a Chevy into a Ford makes some sneer,

but most of us real hot rodders let out a cheer,

Dave is a prime example of what a young man can do,

since most others his age haven't a clue,

Of taking a truck that would've ended it's life as a beater,

and make it something that makes us all a believer,

So if you're in New York and you see a black shadow,

You may have just seen the mysterious Black Widow!

That's, like, 3 of these in 4 days!

I need a break.......... :D

But I was more than happy to do them!

Well I thank you iron ranger. I will def. Be framing this and putting it in the windshield at the car shows.

He wrote a poem for a Ranger build

it wasn't even hokey

which proves he is skilled

at writing truck lore at the drop of a hat

********* it.....gotta go

I think I jus got a FLAT!

Did you ever think about a manual tranny? I honestly don't know much about GM tranny options.. Didn't they also use a T5 in the IROC Zs back in the day?
I just like the sound of any V8 backed by a manual...

I said something about a manual tranny a few pages back and he says they are costly in his area. But IMO, worth every penny and not nearly as complex to work on plus you have more control of the vehicle and what it does.

Yeah irocs and trans ams use the t5 but they want 800 for a used trans.

Plus I'm just not ready to do that kind of fab work right now.

The auto works for what I use the truck for. It will stay in for now.

I do agree, v8's backed with a manual sound awesome.

Great build man! I am looking at getting wheels and rims on my mint completely stock 1992 XLT 2WD. What size of wheel and tire are the one you have in your photo? Are they CRagars or copies? Thanks and good luck with the tranny.
