... So my '88 ranger 2.9l has been giving me trouble with intermittent electrical issues, most recently it flat died on the side of the road. I always keep my OBDI reader in the truck now, for just such occasions. While trying to pull codes I realized non of my relays were kicking, so I started jiggling wires, and they started doing their thing. Looked a bit closer and found this all wrapped in electrical tape....

Time for new distributor and a new plug from pick-n-pull

Thanks for the heads up, yes TFI modules are a problem as they get older and their wiring.

Well I cant say the new ICM and pigtail fixed the problem. >.< check engine light kicks on and truck stutters and tries to stall, but catches and runs. Re-routed a vacuum line to pick the whore harness up away from the valve covers, seams to have solved the problem for now. Might have to individually wrap every wire, re wrap the whole bundle, and slap some new split-loom on it and hope for the best. Time to look for a whole new wire harness.
