Whats up TRS? My name is J, i am mechanicaly inclined, I race motorcycles, this is my first truck and also my first american car.

I picked this truck up today at 12PM. 98,000 miles, dark green, 2.3, 5 speed.

Truck isnt perfect. Started noticing things on the way home. The heater isnt working ( i figure its the heater control valve from what i've read), my temp guage doesnt work ( figure its the temp sesnsor but im not sure which one?) and right before I got home the check engine light came on... This weekend i'll be doing a whole up on it and in the next few weeks ill do the timing belt.

I bought the truck to haul my race bike and equipment around. Nothing else. I wanted to lower it to make loading the bike easier but apparently lowering these trucks isnt as easing as (or cheap) lowering a car with just springs or coilovers. A system will be installed to keep me bumping to the newest tracks on the way to my races.

Welcome to TRS! thats a good lookin truck!

im more of a lifted truck guy but from what ive read you can lower these trucks pretty easy. and the lowering kits dont seem too expensive either.

Thanks. Im lifted truck kinda guy too but it wouldnt be practical with me having to load my bike in the bed. My first plan was to get a 7.3 F250 but I decided against the larger trucks and settled on a fuel efficient small one that easier to get around.

You COULD lift it, and just get a small utility trailer...

Good looking truck!

Welcome to TRS, If you a lifted truck guy, there is a kit for the f650 and Kodiaks, that allows you to hydraulicly lower the bed to the ground for lowering things. Obviously a kit like this is expensive, but it would be a good project for a write up on here. Most likely someone would beat to you to it. But its an idea.

Just sound expensive LOL. Im on a racers budget here. Quick question, where can I find an online repair manual?

i know im in the wrong section but i would like a quick answer, does anybody know what the purpose of the crossmember looking thing under the radiator in a 92 ranger? it looks like it might collect radiator fluid that might leak, but my point is thast i want to take it off or modify it because its very asymetrical and dips way down low, thus decreasing my ground clearance, will it be okay to remove???

:annoyed: :nono: :offtopic:

Welp, changed my oil/filter, changed the fuel filter, new air filter and pumped up the tire pressures. The gas mileage isnt where Id like it to be. Was looking for 27-28 and im getting 23 right now with 90% highway driving. I do have a check engine light on so ill be stopping at the auto parts store to have them run the code for me. Other than that, the truck seems to be running good. Had some banging going on in the front end and noticed the the sway bar bushings are missing from the ends of it so ill be doing that too this weekend.
