Just bought a 4d55t truck, some questions...

Are you trying to retain the factory glow plug relays/module or going to use just a momentary switch? That is what I'm doing to mine. Having a momentary rocker switch that illuminates a light via relay in my insturment cluster. I'm also going to drill out a light for the 'water in fuel' indicator.

Hope to hear you drop it in today, get it situated. The little stuff, wiring, plumbing, hoses are much easier to manage knowing that you have the biggest hurdle out of your way. Hope the weather is in your favor too. Looking out my window right now.. I don't want to get to work. 50 and WET.

Anyway good luck! :beer::icon_welder:

yup, done!weather is really nice overhere, the spring is here.:icon_pepsi: I will try to keep everything stock as i still have the donor truck.

this is how it looks this morning!

Looks great!

So what is left, wiring harness?

Is the gear ratio similar to the truck you pulled from?

and does that thing have a sunroof? Sweet!

there is a lot left to do! The wiring harness is the biggest part. The more i think about it, i'm leaning toward a full harness swap. the black truck has a body swap earlier in his life and the wiring is a mess.

I don't know about the gear ratio yet. the diesel has 3.45. the tag has a good layer of rust and paint. I'll have to scrape it.

looks like i got 3.73 i can only see the 3 on the tag, but 3.73 is the only ratio ending by a 3. from the calculator in the tech section, with 31s i'm right back at the stock set-up with 29s and 3.45. should be good.

Both wiring harnesses are completely removed. Seems plug n play to me, i'll have to study the diagrams.

found out i have to swap fuel sending units. i don't think there is an in tank fuel pump on the diesel. i think i'll swap the rear body harness at the same time. the black truck is a spaghetti incident, cut n loose wires everywhere.

Nice, glad to hear progress man. Sounds like you know what you need to do and you got an early start! hope to hear more

i discover stuff as i go! i'm using the diesel tank and body harness. both are removed. i start to put it back together. i changed the heater fan motor and rad, i'll keep you updated:icon_pepsi:

I think that I'm going to have to do a top mounted intercooler for mine. I'm going to run a fan under similar to the 4d56's now. When you get your wiring done, are you going to start tackling projects like the intercooler right away, or later?

exhaust is done, transmission and engine mounts bolted today (didnt get around it earlier. I will put the fuel lines and tank in place tomorrow. maybe some reassembly in the engine bay if i have the will/time.
