just a thought, do they make a supercharger for 2.3s

I disagree that parasitic losses are too great. When I crack the throttle on my truck, I've got INSTANT power. It feels like a really strong V6 or a mild V8. Also, there's a "coolness" factor that often results in what I call the "supercharger discount." (Some vendors think what I've done is SO COOL they actually charge me less for work I need done! I kid you not--it's almost as effective as being a beautiful girl!!!)

The ability to get going with the bed loaded down, or the power to climb hills has been well worth the hassle!

Have you ever driven a 2.3T????

I know my Tbird feels like a strong V6 mild V8 when its running shitty.

not to be a complete ass but heres the real deal: in the end the amount of power that is created that one wants is virtually the same however you wish to achieve it. if you want to super it super it, if you want to turbo it turbo it, if you want to na/nos it, na/nos it. the end result is the same, just dif ways of acheiveing the same goal. some ways are better economy wise, some are better ease of tuning wise, and some are better for other added benefits (increased torque output at the same hp output vs another method.) the choice is yours, just pick your target and go for it, the hell w/ what others may lead you to believe. im pretty sure a lot of ppl told anupaum to simply turbo his 2.3 but instead he chose to super it just to be dif. if other guy or whomever wishes to super or simply nos it thats their business, no reason to piss on whats better than the other. that should settle it.

I'm running less than 5 psi of boost on my machine. I didn't put it together to burn rubber--I just needed more power for climbing hills and dealing with a load in the bed.

i see where your coming from, i just bought a 92 2.3 not too long ago and i can hardly go up hills in 5th gear and sometimes lose power going up some hills in 4th, i may try to boost it slightly myself to help my power output since its my dd. other than that its a sweet lil trk, nothing fancy but gets me from a to b w/ no problems. granted mine needs body work but she drives fine.

super charger

I have found a site thats fabs superchargers for 4.0 liters using a m112 off of 2008 chelby cobra gt 500's adapter plates are 1200 and the full kit including charger is 3995.00 the site is www.boosthead.com i would be willing to bet he can help you out

I'll be honest I've caught myself looking at the passenger side alternator bracket on a '93-up 2.3 and thinking about mounting possibilities with the TWO (Supercoupe)M90 Eatons I have sitting here, and remembering that I do infact have a complete 2.3T engine that I personally pulled from a 1988 Turbocoupe that I DROVE to the spot where I pulled the engine....

If I had a drive nose off of a buick M90 I'd likely have one mocked up
to a ford 2.3block already.

Yes, I think about it...

I'll add to this that I was probably driving my second turbocharged car
a DECADE before several of the participants in this discussion were
more than an itch in their mother's lace panties.

And in my carport is another turbocharged car that I intend to have
running by laborday weekend. No, it's NOT a Ford.

I prefer turbo's

a friend idly suggested putting an M90 on my SAAB because it was
already a turbo engine, but I've had enough problems with spitting
transaxle parts over the countryside from too much boost at the wrong time...

On the Saab I actually had a switch mounted to the shifter housing to turn
off the boost control system and restrict the engine to 8psi in 1st and 2nd gear
to avoid blowing the ring and pinion right out the back of the transaxle....

And that was on a really "sickified" single cam engine tuned to make it's peak
torque way up high at 4800rpm and peak power at 6900rpm specifically to avoid breaking the transaxle.
at the time I was using a gearbox that woas good only to ~200ft/lb
the new gearbox I'll be using is designed for 250ft/lb, but I'll never
allow the engine to make even that much torque.

Replacing a FWD transaxle is way too much of a PITA and
at $1900 for another transaxle? No thanks...

RJS Super Chargers

Thought this super charger kit might work on my 1992 2.3 Ranger. http://www.rjssuperchargers.com/. If I run 5 lb of boost. Would I need to have custom ECU ? I live in Colorado and would like little more power in the mountains.
