Anyone know what size speakers are in the top of the dash? Mine are blown and instead of replacing them to guy just cut holes and put tweeters on top and took the speakers out and i want to trash the tweeters and put the original size speakers back in. Any tips?

will the 5.5" screw into the factory holes? Better yet willl the 4" screw into the factory holes or will I need to tap some more?

Nothing "aftermarket" will fit all the screw holes, at least not that I have found. Seems like most speakers have four screw holes, and the factory speakers have three. Just put it in with one or two and it'll be fine.

I just finished replacing mine.I installed 5 1/2 in.in the dash and used flush mount 2 way speakers. You have to rotate the speaker to get the right fit(you see it when you do it).you will only be able to use 2 screws and use the clip hardware that comes with the speaker and crimp it to the speaker mount tang and you can screw it to the factory mount and the other will be a straight fit.

anyone know which wires i need to trace back to to wire the new speakers in? The amateur that installed the radio added some tweeters and some other bull crap and cut out the original speaker wires and screwed up the wiring so any ideas where i can pick back up with the factory wiring and just wire it back like its suppose to be?

And i tried the 5.25" from Walmart and now matter how I turned them they wouldn't fit and the passenger side wouldn't fit because the magnet kept hitting that cubby so i took them back and just bought the 4"

How do they sound, and how much were they? I need to replace mine.

i had to modify mine a good bit to fit my 4.5 inch memphis pr's up there...
the passenger side is a pain for sure... i ended up having to take off the dash pad and metal piece up top... mount the speakers in the inner dash, then put the metal piece and dash pad back on...

Well I got the 4" scosche HD speakers from Walmart. They were $24. They sound pretty good they have a good nice crisp sound. My back speakers are blown so they ruin the sound until I replace them payday

Yeah I have the whole dash removed now for these speakers. The previous owner had tweeters and everything up there wired all to hell so i had to remove the dash and cut out all his wiring. Hopefully now that I got his wiring out and its back to factory I can in the future just remove the covers and change the speakers.

ya know... my statement would have been, hopefully I bought good enough speakers that i dont have to touch them again for years! i installed my memphis pr's a LONG time before i joined here on TRS, it was like 06 maybe? they still sound as good as the day i got them. :icon_thumby:

Well changing the speakers didn't really help my issue. Whenever I turn my radio volume up to 19 it sounds good but as soon as I hit 20 it gets a scratchy and the higher I go the worse its gets. Any ideas?
