Just a couple of retarded questions...

Thanks for all the help guys! The 2.8T probably won't happen for a while, I want to do a few other upgrades to the truck first (lift, tires, etc.), and mainly finish the cutlass. But, based on all the info I've gotten here, the 2.8T WILL happen, just not right now. What I'll do is probably grab a fully reman crate 2.8, then apply all said mods, so it will be a brand new motor.

Mine does have a MAP sensor on it but is it really doing much for me, I have no clue due to the emissions stuff isnt hooked up other then the O2 sensor. All I know it was basiclly plug and play and splice a few wires, I already had the fuel-injection fuel system in mine so that made the project alot easier. It starts right up if the battery is charged, I think it has a draw on the electrical system, where I have no clue.

You need a MAP sensor on your setup, otherwise the computer wont know how much fuel to give the engine. MAP and RPM are the main inputs on a speed density type EEC.

True, but if it is really an alpha-n strategy, it wouldn't need it. I don't know if ford ever equipped any cars with alpha-n though.

I will say my MAP is hooked up. Doing a TBI swap to my dads truck soon and today he asked about a turbo job to it, doubt he'll do it but I told him the basics of what he will have to do.

Alot of people who have tried to turbo a TBI motor have lots of issues. Justr something to think about. years ago i put a T3 on a 2.8L tbi blazer and had major issues getting it to run good. SUrging and stumbling problems galour

Put an FMU on the return line, shouldnt work any worse than a multiport setup.

Why dont use a map sensor from chrysler? the chrysler have some cars turbos and tha maps is for 2 bars!!that is u can use until 14.6 lbs of boost!

or other why not use the sistem draw-throuh like the system used in the pontiac turbo

this system!!

Just because you have a MAP that reads 2 bar doesnt mean that your ECU has any clue what the input means. I'd be surprised if a 1 bar ECU even ran with a 2 bar MAP giving MAP inputs.

And the reason why you don't use a drawthru is because they suck (no pun intended, drawthru really is a terrible way to turbo). Lag is maximized, and power output is minimized in a drawthru setup.

Hello

What years of 2.9l had a MAF on it and was it batch fire? It would still have some lag but might be easier to set up. Just something to look into.
