Junkyard finds

I can't find any Rangers in JY's around me. I've been to a few and if a vehicle is older than about 2000, they crush 'em. I tried to find a seatbelt buckle and had to get one from an F-150 - then re-sew it onto the Ranger webbing because it was about a foot too long.

We have a one of the Ranger Thunderbolts or whatever they are called, a couple 3rd gens, two 4th and one 2nd. But holy crap is there plenty of S-10 trucks (20+). Surprisingly, they are almost all clean.

My yard doesn't crush anything until it's been stripped to a bare shell.

Heck, he doesn't have anything newer than about 2000, and he is out of room. He has a few 02+ Explorers, but not many.

anybody got anything good lately. There is an awd v8 Mounty that has been sitting there for a while now, barely touched. I WANT IT. It's got green interior, which is what I want too. And there is no way Pick-n-Pull will sale me a car off of the yard, but it would cost 5x more by pulling the motor, trans, rearend, harness, and all the extra goodies from the interior, like the dash, seats, console. They're having a 40% off sale this weekend, so maybe I can get a deal on something.

He doesn't understand what Nj/Pa junkyards are like... I tried to explain nothing is older than 10 years and if it is, it's usually so rusted it borders on being compost.

Right, my dad leaves Arkansas to come to Florida, and the first thing he wants to do, is go to the yard, and I oblige. He has a PNP in Little Rock, but he says Tallahassee's is better, NO RUST, but the plastic parts are brittle and crispy a lot of the time.

If you happen to run across a gray full length console from a 1999-2001 Ford Explorer, in really nice shape, pull it for me. Nothing around where I am.

Our pick-n-pull place has a 1st gen Explorer with a 5 speed and manual t-case. They want like $250 plus a core for the t-case though. Rip off.

Same place had a late 60's F250 with a 4 speed NP435 trans that had the PTO accessory and all of the cables and stuff with it... I knew they were gonna want a mint... could have bought the whole trans for like $125 but I made the mistake of asking about just the PTO stuff since I have the same trans in my crawler. Suddenly they wanted $175 for just the PTO unit with no trans attached. I walked, it never sold and the truck got crushed. Sad that they have to be so greedy.

Next time tell them what you're willing to pay and leave your contact info. Its worked for me.

The one good thing about my local yards in PA, they go by price sheets on everything. An engine is an engine to them so its 150 bucks for a boss 429 or a 1.5 liter toyota. Stuff is dirt cheap and when you do find a rare gem its the same price as anything else. No cores, no BS...
