I was in the junkyard today browsing and found this. Never saw anything like it, is it factory or aftermarket. It was an 84 or 85 couldn't tell they removed the sticker on the door also had rear hatch with openable window, knew they existed but never saw one in person

That is a Ford factory part. I'm not sure it came in that Bronco II but I know it is a factory map light. I have one in my Mustang and I personally don't care for it. The switch in them is a POS. I removed my bulb because it stayed on all the time. Plus they get really hot when in use.

I would love to have one.

From what I understand they are not all that common...

I have one. Thought it was kinda cool. Haven't used it. Not enough room with my sun roof. Think it came out of an 88 B2 EB, if I remember right.

Looks like the one I had in my 72 Mercury Capri...loved it...and loved the car...kinda wish I didn't trade it in...

When I saw the pic I thought "Why would anybody put the E-brake handle on the ceiling." :icon_rofl:

nah. that's to blow the top off before you hit the seat eject button! :icon_rofl:

would be a kind of neat conversation piece, don't know how often i'd use it. maybe replace the bulb with an led... hmm, maybe i should start looking for one.

that is an 84 hatch, never seen one of those lights in person

Agreed on the 84 ONLY hatch, and the light is the ONLY thing missing on my 84. The console is there, clock works, got the inserts for the center console, but the o/h map light is missing. It has the SAME uglyazz seats that mine has. GOOD find! Is it a manual tranny? If so, the shifter is worth a bit of coin to folks that need one, IF it is not broken.

That style map like was an option (part of an optional interior lighting group) in Rangers and Bronco2's through mid '85.

a 1988 would never come with that style map light.

The 1986-88 came with a different map light that use polarization
filters to reduce glare.
The '86-88 style is typically the electric shift 4x4 overhead switch console
but very rarely they had a trip minder clock in place of the switch module (I have several of these clocks and a couple 1986-88 consoles)

a note on either style console with the clock, they can be an abvolute bitch to set or use the other functions of because the switches are tin plated pads on the internal circuit board and the "switch" is essentially a bit of conductive rubber that is pressed against the board, between corrosion of the pad and oxidation and hardening of the rubber when they get old you can press until your fingers bleed and the switch won't respond.
