yep we are starting another cheapthrills compound creation:icon_surprised:
he hasn't registered yet but he will to take over his build thread
heres what we have

1. Lifted and beat up 90 ranger that we already did a 4.0L swap on (was a 2.9L) it got approx 6-8" Susp lift and 3" body, D35 and 7.5 with 3.73 and locked on both ends. generally runs anything from 235's to 36's

He purchased a 92 std cab short box ranger with the 2.9 and Mitsu trans (trans was junk only had 4th gear) and a 1354 manual shift, D35 and 8.8

it is decent but the cab is shot,

so we went to the local u pull it and found a better cab to strip and exchange
nicksProject.jpg

the new cab needs some minor repair work but is not nearly as bad as the other two rangers

right now we have the cabs off, the engine, trans pulled from the 92. So once we get the fixed will tear into the 90 to steal its elec system and drivetrain to swap onto the 92

What did u pay for the cab u got from the u pull it yard?

Do you guys work, have gf, go to school? i dont understand how you make time for all these projects, i wish i could make that much time. Im lucky if i get like 2 or 3 hrs a week in on working on my ranger. Anyways keep up the good work, always look foward to your new projects and your carnage pics :D

yeah i'm married and have a 5yr old. nobody said we are not up all hours of the nite lol.

we spent about 2.5 hours with two of us to strip the silver ranger to bare cab and remove it along wiht the engine trans off the frame. And being careful cause we need to reuse all the interior peices on the red cab.

we build them to wheel them, we don't wanna look at them for weeks and be bored and not wheel, get em in and get em done.

the blue ranger bed in the background of the first pic is whats left of the donor for the "explanger build"

oh yeah and we named it Junkyard Dawg cause nick (the owner) always carries around in the bed everything but the kitchen sink. At any given time he'll 4 wheeler engines, nissan engine parts, all sorts of susp things, tires. When he comes out to wheel we have to empty the big stuff out of the bed so it doesn't go flying through his rear window or out of the truck

nightly update

slow progress but some updates

Nov112007126.jpg

got the bed off the donor ranger

Nov112007124.jpg

working on the axle, had to replace the gear set

Nov112007122.jpg

got the floor of the donor cab fixed up and painted

we got till the last day of Nov. to get it wheelable

yeah shitty pics i know...........

I could not beleive the difference in axle size between a ranger 8.8 (28 spline) and an explorer 8.8 (31 spline) the ranger 8.8 shafts are like twigs in comparision

got a bunch done and will have more pics available tomorrow

started stripping the current driveable ranger

yeah we are in the process of putting the rear axle under the truck and this weekend we are planning on getting it running and getting the front lift on the truck and i will cross my fingers that it will be a good runner and that the truck wont have the ghetto lean to the drivers side like my old rig.
