Junk Yard Trips

Well some more parts from another donor yet to live another life! Thank you little truck.
$25 for all the parts. FYI no one makes 89+ 2.9 valve covers.

Man this thread is such a downer! The stuff you throw away down south is nicer than the stuff a lot of us drive up here! 🙃 It would probably give southern mechanics an aneurysm dealing with the b.s. we do. Feels like every other job I do needs an impact gun, torch, and needle scaler.

Maybe I should start a business importing fenders, subframes, and floor pans from southern yards up north...

First time I was out in Southern California I saw an old ‘70s F150 for sale. Pretty banged up, but nothing for rust. I told the guy I was working with how I was surprised they were only asking $500 for it, especially since it ran. He thought I was crazy.

I explained that that truck would probably sell for $1500 back east with no engine.

We joked that we should start a business finding old cars and trucks for cheap and trucking them to the northeast to sell for x4 what we paid for them in the southwest.

I was at one of the local U-Pulls and saw this machine. According to the VIN it came with an NA 7.3 diesel, but as it sat it looks like it had a turboed 300 I6. I got a little excited when I saw the intercooler peeking out under the bumper but was disappointed when I popped the hood. There’s a lot of redneckery to digest there. Sorry I didn’t get more photos.

I've seen videos of turbo 300s on youtube. I always thought it would be a cool build.

Went to the yard to try and get an OBS full size dash bezel of a new arrival. For whatever reason the good ones go fast. Someone had already broken it trying to get at something in the dash, but I did see this:

I wonder what project someone had going on that needed a right half of a USPS van.

I have no idea how people don't understand how to take apart the OBS dash bezels... mine is destroyed and so is the dash since someone just ripped it out instead of taking out the 2 screws hiding under those strips...

A couple years ago I took a lady acquaintance to the wrecking yard to gather the components to help her fix her turbo Jetta. We had lunch rolled around in the dirt...I thought it was a date. Turned out it wasn't...GO FIGURE 🤷🤷🤷

You don't take a "lady" to the junkyard. You take a "woman" to the junk yard. Very different results.

One of my first dates with my now wife was at the U Pull It.

I made her hold up the door on a mustang while I unbolted the hinges.

I still have not installed those hinges on my mustang and she reminds me daily.
