Junk Yard Trips

here is our pull a part. it used to be sammy's but i guess they retired and sold it to these guys

I use to live within 3 miles of two U pull it’s. Would go there on the weekends when I didn’t have anything to do.
Now it’s an hour drive either way. there are some that don’t let you in the yard, but that’s no fun.

Is that a test track behind so once you put your new tie rod end on and used air filter you can verify performance and drivability? 🤣

Thanks for pinning down the location. I know exactly where that yard is. As mentioned, the LKQ yards up the road on the photo used to be several different independent yards, but are closed to the public.
Several Bronco IIs a couple full size quite a few rangers from all spectrums bunch of full size trucks couple older explorers if memory serves me correct

In case anyone hasn't heard of him, there's a writer (pen) named Murilee Martin. He has a column on AutoBlog with short articles about different cars he sees in junkyards. It's interesting to browse through. Lots there and seems to be current with more added every few days.

I love reading those articles. Espicially when he finds special edition or rare stuff.

thats the old corpus christi speedway track. when my family moved here to corpus, back in 1993, this town had a circle track (the one in the pic) and a drag strip. now both look like the one in that picture, unfortunately. :(

Well had a day trip to our Raleigh store and had time to scavenge the yard I've gotten quite a few parts from for the project. Great place, classic "junkyard". The Nines in Henderson NC.

I’m sure at this place they’re likely broke be surprised if not.

Made by Brooks Auto Parts in Oilville VA mostly newer stuff but 1 B2. I picked up an already pulled super clean 13-50 since the one I already bought it clicking like crazy. $100 for this one with a guarantee didn't seem bad.

I still need to go to my local one. It lists five or six rangers on the website but i bet they are in terrible shape

Went to a big commercial based yard yesterday with a friend hoping to find a LS 8.8 for his dad for an S10 and I was looking for a passenger door. Ended up with 7.3 engine parts, half the interior from an S10 blazer for his drag truck and 2 free single barrel carbs for my brown 84. Rebuilt one yesterday afternoon truck runs like new. No bronco Ii parts for me. Unfortunately it was 40 and raining as well so no cool pics. Here's what's left of a yota from a stop on Wednesday though!

Several more trips today during a day trip to Chesapeake for work. Ended up at Foss’s Salvage, Always Used Auto Parts and a few whole in the wall joints that had nothing but modern import plastic.

Found a pretty cool bull nose full size Bronco. Passenger side was beat. And a couple potential axle donors.
