So on to the next part of my 89 build. When I push the gas pedal, there is a brief hesitation and sometimes its very jumpy when it kicks in. I am thinking: clean the throttle body and maybe the cable is stretched? Any help appreciated (as usual)

Yes, cleaning is always good

Check throttle spring, and lube throttle cable, take it off at the engine end, lift it up and spray lube down it, then slide it in and out a few times

Also check throttle position sensor(TPS) when its off, ohm meter is best

TPS serves the same purpose as the Accelerator Pump on a Carb, tells computer to squirt in extra gas when you push down on gas pedal to prevent a hesitation like you describe

C'mon Ron, keep it clean. This is a family show. ;)

Sounds like an issue I had with a TPS once though.

I am a dirty bird, what can I say
