Josh40601's Build Thread. (D-ranged)

Yeah. Gonna be your solid axle V8 DD. lol.

you forgot Crawler Hauler too. I decided to go with a 5.3 instead of the 6.0 (better Gas Mileage) but will most likely stick to the 4L80E due to the towing. 31 spline 9" will be plenty strong enough to handle DD duties and towing. Going to add air bags to the back as well.

should just link and coilover it. then when you load it up, you just adjust the spring preload. do a 4 bar 4 link with C/Os under the bed if you want to keep the bed.

Or spend 240 bucks a Riderite kit

C/O's are not designed to be used when hauling a load. While the 4 link is a good idea, he can actually replace the leaf springs with a square tubing running from the front leaf spring hanger and bolt it to the leaf spring perch on the axle, and use the airbags instead of the leaf springs (or keep what he has and add the bags)...

I ran the riderites on my Harley F150 and they pulled my 7000 lb CJ like it wasn't even there. The truck was lowered 4" in the back so i couldn't even put my Harley in the bed without bottoming it out. I really wish they made an 02-03 HD Edition in AWD. That would be my DD

It was a little bit of a joke. I know they're not supposed to be adjusted like that.

i noticed you decided no mistubitchy anymore

Another update!

Just picked the doubler back up from the weld shop. Going up to my buddy's to build the crossmember and install the whole mess this weekend. There will be pics.

good stuff man! what are you doing about your shafts? getting new ones built or the originals lengthened/shortened?

well, i still have my old 2 piece, and it will "band-aid" the trip back from my buddy's shop, but i will have new tubes put in for both the front and back. The 1-piece that i have is beat all to hell from Moab, so I am just going to get it re-tubed. I have a spare cardone front shaft that i will get re-tubed as well.

is it still titled in TX or CA now?

TX still. Not that I really give a damn. My good buddy who's a diesel mechanic suggested an old school 327 with a serious cam. He also suggested a 4BT, and has done that swap into 1/2 tons before(he used to pull start semis with a 4BT Chevy 1500:icon_surprised::shok::headbang:)

I've pull started fully loaded semi's with my 4.0L ranger, several times. It's not how big the motor is, its how much gearing you got to get it done:icon_thumby:

with stock gearing the 4BT would get it done.

I'm sure Gwaii could pull start 5 or 6 at once with the gearing in his truck lol.
