Josh40601's Build Thread. (D-ranged)

I don't see why everyone hates on the 3.0. The 2wd edge I built for my buddy who was deployed had the 3-0, and it worked great. The 3-0 in my little red truck works great. Would I rather have a SOHC 4.0? Of course. But I am not buying one. For the plans I have for this truck, I honestly feel the 3.0 will do fine

Why the hate? I own both. My 91 has the 4.0L OHV and my 97 has the 3.0L and it is a gutless wonder compared to the 4.0L.

You're going with an auto behind the 3.0L or 5 spd? The auto makes them even doggier.

Not compared to this 4-0. Lol

Seriously though, if it isn't what I want, I can always use the motor for a backup in my red truck.

so is the doubler staying with D or is it gonna go into the x?

I'd lean heavily towards reworking the 4.0l in it already.... The only good 3.0l's came with a whipple, lol.

while im glad railmans truck is gonna be even sweeter it makes me sad to see this one on street tires with blingy rims a tiny motor and no doubler....

Yep. It will still look good though. BGLT rims are coming off. Keeping it a driver. Only offroading it will see is working around on the farm.

I don't need this one to be built like it used to. I have the Explorer for fun. This is just the driver now

I may get ya to save those rear springs off the donor truck.....another part of my C.O.D. package:D:D:D

Front clip is off and that was the first day

Second day was disconnecting everything getting it ready for the cab to come off.

Also cut the ears off the engine cage to help remove the cab. Since there will never be a cage in this truck, no need for the ears.

Removed everything out of the interior, and now the VIAIR system will go into the Ex. All that is needed is the body bolts removed and the cab is ready to come off.

Next weekend the yellow cab comes off, and the tan goes on. Also moving the axle back to where it sits center in the wheel well. The ride of the truck is horrible with the angle of the rear shackle. Planning to use a degree finder on the stock rear leaf spring angle, and hoping to match the angle on this truck

Tell me about it....

are you going to swap over the vin plates or just register it under the new vin ??
