It’s back in

Neighbor helped me wiggle and push.

Got caught on the upper 02 sensor plug which is now destroyed.

Need to connect the slave line but it doesn’t click in. The old slave had a locking ring that came off and the new one does not.

I’d assume the lines are interchangeable between the slave connections?

Update;

I got the quick connect plugged into the slave. Cracked the bleeder and it went right in. Now to fight the air in the system. But whatever. It’s fine.

Put fluid and battery in the truck and went to test it out on jack stands.

Let it out easy into first and heard a crunch sound. Oops. Left parking brake on. Ok. Redo.

Now I can rev and spin the driveshaft but the wheels do not turn. I can also pull the rear wheels out a few inches. Pretty darn sure I broke something in the rear end

BUT IT GOES INTO GEAR! Successful Failure?

Never mind, not good.

I’m wondering if I had put the truck in the ground and went for a test drive if the rear would have also exploded.

I just feel pretty dumb. Two days and at least it spins the driveshaft..

Ouch, looking at that the cross pin probably fell out and one of the spider gears left the chat... if you can find a junkyard axle to get parts from (cross pin, cross pin bolt and spiders) then you'll probably be fine.

I’m going to just source a whole used axle and swap it in. Found a few locally for like $250

The diff carrier where the cross pin goes is chewed up too. I’m just flabbergasted it blew up. I’m nervous about swapping it out and putting the truck on the ground and it blowing another rear end.

That's a fluke, back in the day you heard stories about the cross pin bolt backing out and spitting the pin but it's been a long time since I've heard about that... Personally I've only broken one spider gear (was pulling a garage over in low range with the hubs unlocked and the rope broke), other than that my only axle related issues were from doing a tractor pull and having all of the axle wrap... oh and just full on wear from lack of maintenance on my explorer...

In other words you should be fine...
