What could it do?

There's no magic to be unlocked. It's all about airflow. A gasoline motor has to run a certain air-fuel mixture ratio or it will either die a cruel death with the exhaust valve heads seared down to lumps when it goes lean or reduced to the power of you average beanbag chair with the catalytic converter setting the carpet on fire if it goes too rich.

The chip doesn't add air. Nitrous Oxide does. That works like dammit. Just make sure you have the fuel ready.

Diesels are where chips work. All diesels have a lot more air in them than they need. When the electronic controls became a necessity for meeting emissions requirements everybody went crazy. Having a ton of oxygen available to make sure all the fuel gets burned up reduced emissions a lot so they have large turbos and a large amount of available air. You can make gigantic gains with a chip because there is plenty of extra oxygen to squirt fuel into.

A gasoline motor has nothing to gain. In todays market, where you have spies trying to figure out what anyone is doing that has a tenth of a percentage point of fuel economy one you and pays millions of dollars a year to the top brains in the country to develop solutions from the ore to the compuer program that runs it....

Do you think a company run off the philosophies of Larry the Cable Guy are going to out perform them?

Ha!! Well said. But he's right- a turbo would be the only way to get significant power from that engine. You might get about as much power from the chip on a 4 banger as you got from the cold air intake- not a bunch.
