Good day to everyone! When i bought my truck the previous owner had told me he had put a Jet chip in it...it sounded cool and like it might have been expensive or something. Anyway, I have owned the vehicle for 4 years now and let me be honest, that chip does nothing in my opinion. But I was hoping someone could shed some light here for me. Anyone own a Jet chip and notice a performance difference? It may have been installed wrong...but i cant even seem to find the item i have on the JEtchip website. If anyone has any info about this let me have it. Maybe it was installed wrong or it just does nothing noticeable..thanks for any input-

Yeah JET doesn't seem to be too popular around here... probably because the performance gains from them are non existant...

You would be better off going with an underdrive pulley set.

I thought about an underdrive pulley. I heard it can cause damage to the crank though.. Ever had a bad experience after installing underdrive? And would it really be any noticeable power increase? Pros and cons are nice to know before you install something ya know? But thanks, i figured it was junk, atleast im not the one that bought the chip..

I was looking at the Magnum chips on Ebay. Not sure if a chip could even give me 45 more hp? Sounds like a false claim, not to mention most chips say to run premium after installing their chips. Heck, I can probably get better performance just using 94 octane without the chip. LOL

Yea, its load of crap! I was bored one day and decided to take it out just to see if there was a difference...whether i have it plugged into the comp. or not, the truck runs the same! I run 89octane, i think that gives me better performance than a chip!

forget about electronics unless sumone shows you a dyno sheet that proves the gain. underdrive pullys are worth the money spent. they dont add power they just free up parisitic loss from all the components. its a common miss conseption. stufforyouranger.com has them in different sets and colors if you want to be creative.

Yeah... any ebay chip will probably kill your engine faster, not to mention getting 50hp and 20+ mpgs? if you could do that for 5 bucks the dealer would have done it...

As for the running higher octane fuel... It does NOT add any power benefits, all a higher octane fuel does is combust at a higher pressure range. Thats why turbo vehicles and high compression engines require it but not regular engines like our rangers. The fuel is all the same but with different compounds ect to prevent precombustion or whatever. Different fuels such as Alcohol and Methane and Diesel have more energy in the fuel and it is utilized. Thats why big trucks with diesels can manage to pull off 20 MPG while towing.

Got a dyno sheet?

Maybe diesel but alcohol and methane will produce less energy. Ethanol in gasoline for example gives at least 10% less mpg.
