Is there a difference between the Jeeps version of the Dana 35 carrier and the Ford TTB Dana 35 carrier?

I got a Jeep Dana 35 carrier with 4.56 gears. Was wondering if they will fit on the TTB carrier?

SOME Jeep rear Dana 35 carries fit inside the Ford Dana 35 TTB, but not all.

PM or ask JoelH. I think he has or is running a Jeep carrier inside the Dana 35 TTB.

The carrier will work but the gears will not. Jeep rear 35’s are low pinion, TTB front 35’s are high pinion. Thus the gears will not swap.

Unless the carrier is a locker it will be of no gain.

+1, no go on the gears.

I believe all TTB D35 carriers are the same as the 3.55+ carrier in jeep D35s.

Yes, it will. And... for what it's worth, if you get a high number L/S from a Jeep, it will fit in a TTB 35. Only issue (if it's real an issue) is filling the gear oil... the carrier is larger and will make filling a tad difficult unless you rotate it to the point where the cut out is on the carrier.
Only problem with a lockrite in an open 35 is strength, the open carrier is quite week when loaded with a lockrite.

Not necessarily...

There is a difference in some of the carriers where the side gears are 1.5" vs. 1.6-something". Most of the Jeep carriers are one size, where many Ford carriers are the other.

While the carriers are identical externally (and will swap as a whole unit), these internal differences will prevent a drop-in locker (such as a Lockright) from fitting.

Since I'm considering swapping out my limited slip carrier for an open with lockright (in my ZJ D35...), I might consider using the L/S carrier in my Explorer front D35 to match the L/S in the rear 8.8... Just thinking about it for now.

The Lock-Right I'm running in my TTB D35 came out of a 94 ZJ.
