I'm pretty sure the Comanche used the same axles as the Cherokee. The Comanche did offer a payload and towing package that included a "heavy duty" rear axle that was a Dana 44. So you will find some Comanches with a D44 but the vast majority will have a D35.

The Comanche is basically an XJ without the body.

and they most definatly did come with the D30 Front D35 Rear

Some of the last ones came with a D44 out back but a D44 is
only very slightly stronger than a Ford 7.5.

I think the dana 44 is the bench mark for an axle and Ive seen a 10 spline dana 44 hold up to 35" thornturds in a 63 willys, granted it only had a 60 hp, 100 ft.lb tq. F head I4, it still held up and was ABUSED.

honda passport in the early 90s had a good old d44 in the rear. perfect width and those pos' are piled all over in hte boneyards. most of them had 4.56 gears too. grab one of those and the d30 and i doubt youll have trouble unless you lock the front or are a crazzy basturd like me what kind of stuff do you wheel?

I'm sorry, but the Ford 8.8" will be WAY more available and more than likely stronger also... If I was going to do anything Isuzu, I'd grab the Isuzu/GM corporate 12-bolt rear from the Trooper... Pretty nice unit, and yes, they came factory with 4.56:1 ratio... It still takes special parts, and the Ford 8.8" would be alot easier to fix...

point is go for the d30 if you want but skip the d35 for something better

Just because an axle doesn't use c-clips doesn't make it golden... I would much rather have a c-clip axle that I know I can get replacement parts wherever I go than a non c-clip axle that I would have trouble finding parts for... I'm not saying that axle is crap... It's actually a very good axle for that vehicle, Isuzu equipped their vehicles very well, but for a swap there are so many better options... Yeah, the D30 isn't a terrible front axle, the D35 is a terrible rear axle, especially when there or so much better options (31 spl 8.8")

But, it's an Isuzu specific rear... Try putting just any D44 shaft in there and see what happens... You'll have to get shafts from the Passport or Rodeo only...

ok than i will go the pic@pull and get a hole rear or two more and grab axles . but if the rear will hold up to 35 suggest max size and the biggest iwill go is maybe 37 i don't think i will have a problem.

I'm not dogging ya for using it... It's actually a really good axle within it's limits... I'm just saying it's less common and not quite as strong as the 8.8"... It does have the non c-clip thing going for it though...

the rear is 6 lug and i have a eb dana 44 up front. i putting chevy knuckles on it so up front will be 6 lug. cheap way to high steer or atleast rise the draglink up obave the rear. right now the draglink is about 3in below the alxe tube.
