I got a SYE installed today. It is one of the
"hack & tap" style. I went this route because I got a brand new one from
Dirt Bound Off-Road in California. I got it for $89 shipped.
It was interesting and a little intimidating cutting the rear output shaft of the transfer case off with an angle grinder, but it went smoothly.
Drilling the hole was a pain in the butt. It took me about an hour or so to get the hole drilled. The hardened shaft doesn't like to be drilled.
It is definately worth the work. There is NO drive line vibrations anymore. I used a front drive shaft off a '94 XJ. It bolted right up without any problems.
I still have to remove the transfer case drop. I need to get 4 new bolts for the transmission mount.
On with pictures.....
I also got my XJ 8.8 swap kit to get the 8.8 installed. It came with new u-bolts, spring perches, spring plates, parking brake cables, axle to drive shaft flange, and drive shaft flange bolts.
I don't have any pictures of the kit. I will get some before I start welding the parts on the axle. Hopefully I will get it all put together this week and installed in a week or 2. I might be going off roading next weekend, so that won't give me time to get the front axle regeared before hand.
