I was wondering if anybody had any experience with JBL subs and amps? I plan on doing most of my system with JBL stuff (except the head unit) because I can get it for cost (mom's friend is a JBL dealer). I plan on running this setup:

JBL GTO14001 mono1200w RMS (sub amps, I'm running one for each sub)
JBL GTO1004 4 channel 100w RMSx4 (speaker amp)

JBL W12GTI MKII 700w RMS 12” (running two of them)

JBL P8662 70w RMS 6x8 (rear speakers)
JBL P562 55w RMS 5 ¼ (dash speakers)

Whaddya think? These are just the main components, I'm still finding the power caps and choosing between Pioneer head units.

nice choices, ive always wanted to hear one of the GTI's with how much people rave about how good they sound

your amp numbers are a bit high, for your subs and speakers, be care full you dont blow stuff, your 500W over your sub rating:icon_surprised:

and i would do the big three upgrade before you add a cap to the mix

those subs ave dual 6ohm voice coils. so youre either going to wire them for a 6ohm load or 1.5ohm load.

like others have stated, one of those mono amps on each speaker will overpower it drastically. and its only stable down to 2ohms. that 4 channel will defintly be overpowering those coaxials. either get a smaller amp or get components.

if it were me id risk running a pair of those 12's on ONE of those amps at a 1.5ohm load. then id get the JBL GTO504(bridge it to get 140w@4ohms) to run a set of JBL C608GTi-mkII components.

theyve been known to handle 1000+ rms safely

back on subject, i sure wish I could afford/have the space to do all this! i bet it's incredible with that set up!!

Good luck man, make sure you do it right, don't want to risk ruining any of that expensive equipment... make sure you secure your vehicle too! haha.

if they can handle 1000w rms safely, then they would have put 1000w rms on the tec spec

Actually most manufacturers put the rms way below what they can actually handle so people don't run them on the actual maximum that they can handle. I've heard from a few people that the actual safe RMS for these subs is around 900-1000. And also, I'm not going to be running these at 1,000w all the time, it's for those bragging rights bursts of sound...lol

Thanks guys!

Ben

i had powerbass 12''s rated at 250 watts rms and i was giving them 450 watts rms and they handled it just fine.

ya ive been giving my AQ SDC2.5 (600w rms) over 800rms for quite a while and it takes the beating just fine, i just make sure my clipping light doesnt light up and send distorted power to the sub

after looking around some i found out that these can take some power. right up to 1000w. but if you were to wire one to each amp, you do know that with the wiring configuration your going to have a 3ohm load. that amp is rated at 1200w at 4ohms and 1500 at 2ohms. so im assuming youd be feeding that sub about 1350w each. i guess if you adjust the gains accordingly youd be alright. why not just use one amp and go with this amp.
