What are the benifits of running aftermarket ignition wires? I don't know if mine have ever been changed the truck has 166,466 miles on it. But at the same time they look fine and I'm not having problems with them.

if you dont think they have been changed in that long you should do it. especially since its cheap and easy. you wont really notice any problems with them even if they are weak i dont think.

i'll have to go through some of the old repair shop sheets. The guy that owned it before me was a pharmistist so he had money and he was one of those people that can't change there own oil. But he kept it very well maintained it's in way better condition then my friends 02 with only 70,000 on it.

If only ONE WIRE goes bad the engine will be missing! If the engine isn't missing leave it alone! New wires will NEVER help! As long as the voltage stays in the wires everything is working fine. And NO! There are no wires that are better than the stock wires. 7MM 8MM 9MM none are better than the others! All the wire does is allow the voltage to go from one place to another...if it does that then new wires will not do better.

ok i didn't know it had the plugs changed before I bought it.

As wires age, their ohm resistance increases. The higher the ohm's, the less spark "energy" you get. When looking for new wires, find out what their ohm resistance per foot is and pick a set with the lowest numbers (RFI wires, of course.). The lowest I have found, and use, are from Granatelli. There IS a difference in wire performance, and there are better wires than oem. Everything oem is basically a compromise; price, durability, performance, etc.
