The LS3.9/Jag4L (no, no LandRover) is the same block, but two totally different beasts. I own an LS and can tell you from what I know of it, putting the motor (either the V6 or the V8) in anything else (properly) would require MASSIVE amounts of time and would virtually be easier to to purchase a blank cube of cast iron and machine it into an engine block with a dremel.
It would require a complete working LS, all the harnesses from the PCM clear out to the corner bulbs.
The 3.0L V6 from an LS could have an intake system and sensors (from a Ranger perhaps) plugged into it and ran on many of the 3L PCMs (in example, the Ranger's PCM). Problem is, it would no longer contain the LS programming and wouldn't be reaching the increased 232HP (Gen2 LS) rating of the LS 3.0L.
Problem with using the LS control systems is there are 6 onboard computers, all are networked and without all functioning, nothing wants to work.
The Jag I would assume is as or possibly even more complex. There are people who have inquired about swapping the LS V8 out in place of the Jag motor. That cannot be done without a full swap of everything as well. If the LS PCM for the same base block (assembled on the same platform) doesn't stand a chance, logic would say neither does any other Ford PCM.
