Hey all,
About a year ago I was given a '84 ranger, 2.8 auto with 2WD, with either 90k or 190k miles on it. While it was free, it needed a lot of work (most everything didn't work). Matter of a fact, it took me 9 months to get it going! I'm a tinkerer, and I loved the project as I was still in school for automotive. Two years ago I didn't know much past changing oil. Thanks to the community college and my Ranger I've now done a plethora of things to it....learning a whole lot along the way. At first, the it leaked oil so bad it didn't drip, it was a small stream giving it a oil pressure of 3psi too! The truck may look like a beater, but it purrs like a kitten and does not use oil!
I'm real proud of it, despite it's patina.
Just a small part of the list of the more notable work:
oil pump
water pump
timing cover gaskets
oil pan gasket
crank gasket
valve stem gaskets
valve cover gaskets
Intake manifold gasket
complete brake system overhaul
a whole bunch of friggen' electrical issues
As for future projects, I'd plan to put A/C and a 5-speed in it.
