I've got some work cut out for me....

Good day all, on 11, Sept. 2022 I bought a 1988 Ranger Custom. The engine is a 2.9-lucky-to-do-79-on-a-decline, got the 5-speed stick, and 4x4. I am technically the third owner, but the gentleman who sold it to me got it from his father who brought it home brand new in 1987. So second family... Long story short, I love projects- the day before I purchased the Ranger, I drove out of state to buy a 1989 Jeep Comanche as a more long-term project that I've always wanted to do. Needless to say, I'm not too new to wrenching. I have a Land Rover and a ZJ that I work on from time to time as well.

That being said, I come from a mostly-Ford family I had a 2000 F-150 5.4 that was usually a PITA to work on, a 2004 Mustang GT wasn't nearly as fun to work on, and a 2015 Escape that drove me nuts with its many strange design choices. So I'm profoundly preferential to Ford trucks, they've always served us well and the sheer engineering behind the 2000 F-150 saved my dad's life in a horrific crash.

Why do I have my work cut out for me? I have a series of little things that need to be addressed on the Ranger and I'll do them bit by bit as I have other projects. Long story short, the PO made a lot of questionable fixes to bits and bobs here and there, nothing major.

I'll be around.

Most of us have been there... and still there just chugging along.

Congrats on the new truck... just keep moving forward.

Hopefully this goes through, but this is what I purchased. The PO did make tasteful fixes to the rust on the panels, I gotta say that it's rather head-turning!

Appreciate it! For what it's worth, this has absolutely been one of the most enjoyable rides I've ever owned over the last year and a half.

Its a RED Ranger so the best :)

Indeed a red Ranger! I was told that it was repainted at some time, so I don't know how close to the original it is.
