Its starting to look good for me.

You cant use a v6 computer for a v8. however I do believe you can use some of the wiring. ---> http://therangerstation.com/Magazine/summer2008/2_9-to_5_0-Swap.htm

I agree a body lift does make it easier, however it is also pretty easy without a body lift. Since the borg warner t5 does have a removable bell housing it makes it pretty simple.

Simply attach the bell housing to the engine install all bellhousing bolts with ease and then lift the tran in and attach to bellhousing. Very easy indeed as this is what I do with my lowered 5.0 ranger.

A plus about the body lift also is that it will make it loads easier to get a good exhaust system in.

Happy wrenching! :icon_welder:

I have heard of people doing it, someting about both the early injected 302's and 2.9's were bank fired and the computer is simple enough it doesn't really care what is all on the bank. Hopefully somebody more knowlagable about it will chime in.

Mine is carbed and durasparked, if the truck had been fuel injected to start with that is what I would have stayed with.

As far as pulling engines and breaking stuff because it gives you something to do... you must have a lot more free time and extra money than I do.

Dude find you a later model 302 with EFI. You'll have a better platform, and be legal with it. Then you can spend all that time money and energy breaking and fixing other stuff on the truck. The Mustang EFI system is a real easy swap into almost anything. If you have a standalone harness it's only a few wires to have it up and running.

I reckon it would have to be a speed density ecm therefore you cannot use the ho wiring harness?

i do have quite a bit of free time. but i also do most of my work in the wee hours of the morning. im sure my neighbors hate my guts. the sound of an impact wrench at 3 am cant make them all that happy.

ill look into mustang EFI. i was originally just gonna get the motor and trans and run it like that. i spose if i can find a donor car for an okay price ill go that route.
