HELP! I have a 90 Ranger with a 2.9 V6. I got it from a local who had installed a crate motor and never could get it running right, so he let it sit for a couple of years. I finally talked him out of it, and "his" problem was he had the vacuum lines all wrong. I corrected that, and the truck ran great until yesterday. It started fine as usual, and I drove the 30 mile trip to work. At first, it started idling rough when stopped. Then when I took off if was fine. On my way home, at cruising speed, it started coughing, spitting, and sputtering. I barely made it home, now I can't even get it out of the driveway. It cranks good, but runs rough as hell in park, then as soon as I put in in reverse, it dies. Also, for some reason, the power brakes stopped working today. I've recently replaced the front rotors because they were totally shot. Bled the brake system, all was well, until today. Not sure if it's related or not. Also of note, while I was working on it today, I took the big hose off that goes from the air box to the throttle body and it seemed to smooth out for a bit.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. This is my only vehicle at the moment.
