*** I did some further checking on the bumper and all, and since I had rear ended someone, yeah I know i am a tool.... I did some measurements and found that the front end is shifted a bit as well, about a half inch to the passengers side, I cut some metal rectangle tube out to use as spacers for the bumper guard and all should be right with the world. I also have to shift the nose of the truck back to its place and that'll be good too. I still haven't figured out why this guard is not so easy to put on but it's two bolts on each side, which i made some temporary fitment blocks out of wood and its been holding fine, so in got the metal spacers and off we go...

Thank you all for helping me out yall rock!!!!

Arright, Sup Folks??

A buddy of mine said he had a bumper guard for my truck. I said cool, felt bad about himjust giving it to me so I traded him a full size toolbox, got the brackets and the guard, the brackets went on fairly easy.. Then I go to match up the guard, well It no fit!!!!!
I took some measurements before I moved the guard and saw around 31 " between the two mounting points on the guard. And on the truck I measured around 27" or so just eyeballing it. This guard is WAY OFF, He thinks it was off a 96 but I think it was off a later model, maybe a 98. Anyone know what the measurement is between the frame rails towards the front of a 98 ranger 4x4? I am betting this is the one it fits. I didnt get directions or any other hardware besides the guard, headlight guard inserts and brackets.
I have a 96 and am going to figure out how to mount this thing on here. Just wanted to check with yall to see if you had any input.
Thanks,

Rob

bumper guard

I don't really know what you are calling a bumper guard since :worthless: .
but i have a chevy truck push bar on my Ranger, It's mounted (bolted) to the outside of the frame rails with a 1/4" plate spacers. It's strong enough to push around dead trucks and derby cars onto trailers and hit the occasional sapling over on the trail. :D

So I am going to make a couple of spacer blocks for the guard to fit. I took some long bolts and some pieces of 2x4 wood. Yes wood, i'm only using it for measurement and fitment purposes and it appears it will work just fine. I have to fine tune it and get some measurements. But it DOES appear that the frame is a LITTLE tweaked, but that might just be my imagination. I will FINALLY post up some more pics tomorrow.
Thanks for the help guys, you all rock. I love this site. It's taken my mediocre stance on having this truck and is making me ok with having it. No insults intended there I had an 88 BII that was my dad's first ford truck and I never should have sold it.
Anyways Go Big Blue!!! I will get those pics up tomorrow.
rock On
