Issues with the 2005-2011 Ranger

In California... not really... rust is the main issue which wouldn't be a problem for you. There are minor quirks with the engine options. And quirks auto vs manual but there are really no big issues with any combo in 2011.

The 2010-2011 rangers were pretty much the best ones ever made in my opinion. The only thing with a 4.0 sohc engine (what will come in a 4x4) is to make sure you change the timing chain tensioners every 100k or so. Earlier 4.0 SOHC engines had a problem with the chain guides failing but by 2011 that problem was long since solved. Still smart to change the tensioners as part of maintenance.

The 2010/11 4x4s can have issues if you want to lift them because of the Traction Control and Active Roll Stability systems, not a big deal but if lifting is the plan then you may want to look at earlier years

2009 and up Ranger 4x4s will have the 4.0l SOHC engines, you should change the two long chain tensioners every 100K miles as general service

Ha beat you!

One of the companies makes lift spindles that work with the traction control trucks.

Too much sun again today has me forgetting the brand.

I've never seen them... get sober and discuss lol. You can kill the whole system though with forscan i think.

The only problem I had was the laminated, 3 piece thermostat housing coming undone. I got an aftermarket aluminum housing off amazon and haven't had a problem since.

I am having a problem with paint flaking off on the roof on spots but that might be a Florida sun thing.
