Is your Ranger ever "done"? (Journey vs Destination)

Apparently the transmission crossmember changed in mid 1990 and I have the older style which has a large rubber bushing on each end of the crossmember as well as a rubber transmission mount, all 3 bushings are shot so the transfer case is sitting probably an inch low I imagine. The newer style is an L that attaches on one side of the frame and goes across to the other side and the only rubber is the transmission mount as far as I can remember...

I just put the later crossmember in mine. I had the style before the dog bone one.

Looks like the PS uses the same holes as the brackets for yours. Looks like it kicks the trans up about a quarter inch from the dog bone style too.

That would help my expensive drive shaft fit better :). That would have helped me not take out two radiators with the fan...

Ouch. Sounds like the old "now ya tell me", or a "where were yous yesterday" lol

The pre dogbone style that wraps up inside the frame rail sits higher yet, pictures here:

It is easier to shim things to sit higher than it is to adjust a crossmember to sit lower though.

With the traction bar I don't need much room if any, I had a spare stock driveshaft that was only about 1/2" shorter than my expensive one... Just getting the drivetrain more stable should help, so the more modern crossmember will be fine.
