Is this the waterpump or thermostat?

Sorry for the total n00b question, but I'm trying to get familiar with my Ranger. I've noticed a dramatic coolant leak and found it's leaking from this part which I believe is either the waterpump or the thermostat. The leak is coming from where my finger is pointing. For reference the belt is on the left hand side of the image towards the front of the car.

Can anyone tell me what part I'm pointing to so I can work on replacing it.

that is nether, are you sure it's not coming from above that becuase that is an oil seal on the crank shaft (front main seal) that you are pointing to, the water pump is the smooth pulley directly above that one, the one with the fan attached to it, it is not uncommon for a coolant leak to run down and then get mistacken for coming from somewhere else
what year/motor ranger are we talking about here

you never know if you dont ask. what could be going on is coolant could be leaking from the weep hole on the on the water pump and like said before me its just running down and drippin off the crank

How does it look directly under or around the waterpump? Like someone else said, theres a weep hole for when the waterpump is on its way out. Try looking above the area you pointed out..I could be running from a hose or the thermostat housing.

Ugh, I hate antifreeze..

I would bet money on a timing chain cover leak, mine leaked from there and it ran all over the damn place. The way it seems to be running down the side of the harmonic balancer screams timing chain cover.

One thing I forgot, to the op, is it leaving a big freaking puddle every morning or is it less than that? The reason I ask is because if the water pump is leaking from the weep hole it will generally piss it out pretty good during and after its been running there is a small membrane that gives out and out comes the coolant. If its more of a slow smaller leak I would shy away from the water pump being the culprit, it could also be coming from the intake manifold and leaking down. There are several areas that can leak coolant and give a big headache.

Car in question is a 93 3.0 Ranger. I've been away for quite a while and haven't driven the truck since then.

I'll look above that front main seal to see if it's coming from the waterpump weep hole.

How would I determine if it's the timing chain cover that's leaking?

I say it's ur water pump, from the looks of the picture the anti freeze is just leaking down from the weep hole...

id bet its the water pump, it looks like rusty water, not an oil leak.
