I was at the junkyard the other day looking for a front axle and saw a B2 checked the tag and it didnt have the code I needed, snapped a pic anyway:

Looked it up and it has L/S 4:10s!:icon_surprised:

Surprised the hell outta me, never seen any b2 with 4:10 L/S

That is kinda rare anymore. Especially if it has a manual trans. Now go find one with a limited slip front.

It had an automatic (surprise surprise) but it was a push button 4wd. Someone had already took everything besides both axles(minus front hubs) and the 2.9. Was lookin for a 3.73 front but this made me want to get these axles instead.

Thought about askin the guy what he could do for me if I brought in my axles and traded. These guys dont know what they have and they are goin outta business and scrappin everything so it might work...

Be the cheapest set of 4.10's you ever found. Get em. Rescue those axles.

4.10s are the only option for 4cyl 4x4 trucks.

Like adsm08 said, anything with a LSD front end is rare. Very rare.

My truck originally had a 4 cylinder under the hood and was 4wd from the factory and it had and still has 3.73.

we had an 86 with 4.0 l/s.... but it burnt. didn't realize it was rare so dad scrapped what was left and bought the 88 I have now.

You guys think it has a L/S front end too?
What would you guys pay for these axles, you know just to keep in mind when I talk to the guy.

It might have an LS front, but I wouldn't count on it. Those were really rare. I didn't even know they existed until I saw the carrier in the LMC catalog. But heck, you already need the front if you get the rear, if it has it, that is just the cherry on top.

I would offer about $300 tops. It might be a lot more to buy the gears and have them put in, but we are still talking about a used 7.5 and D-28.

honestly I wouldn't give more than $200 for them... since it's still a 7.5/d28.

Ya its the only 4x4 Ranger axle in the whole junkyard and yes it has the 7.5 rear still there too. Its missing the hubs but I figure they were automatic because of the auto trans, push button 4x4 and its a XLT. So I would swap them anyways.

Makes me wonder if its worth it or to just wait till I get me a 93-97 ranger. Especially since I just put a total of $160 into my 3.73 7.5 swap(which is part of the reason for the front change, that and the hole in the diff:icon_twisted:)

The 7.5 can be forced into a Ranger but the perches are a different width.

Personally wouldn't even offer... I got a 31 spline 8.8 for $100 with 3.73 gears, disc brakes and L/S for $100. 4.10's are fairly common in them as well.

Paying hard earned money to keep the same weak front axle doesn't appeal to me much either.

It would be a "hey thats kinda neat" if it came with them... I don't see them as much of an upgrade though.
