I am wanting to put amber LED lights on my toolbox and I am wondering if it is legal to do it. I looked it up on google and found nothing. I live in Nebraska.

Not really. they are LEDs. here they are.

what i meant to say is will they light up with your running/parking lights at night? or what? i really dont see a problem with that down in Texas, but dont really know bout nebraska.

Amber lights must be on the front of the vehicle only legally. Red on the rear.

Check your state law and see what the law says. Amber in front for almost all states that I know of.

I'm looking deeper and so far I have not found any laws about the amber LEDs in the rear. I will keep you updated

Generally (exact laws vary state to state), amber marker lights must face forward, red must face toward the rear. This makes it easier to tell which direction the vehicle is facing. The only exception is rear turn signals... They can be red or amber.

Generally any lights above the headlight/tail light area are to be covered when not in use and can never be used while driving.

I have a friend who has them on his ranger and I asked him if he ever had any trouble running into the cops with them on and he said no. I will still look into the laws and confirm it. Thanks guys!

+1 thats why i say this shouldnt be a prob in Texas, nor Nebraska

sh!t in farm country here, as long as it doesnt poor oil on the road and has headlights you can drive it anywhere.

Are you wanting to put them on a cross box, or bedside boxes? I would use amber lights up til the last couple of feet at the rear of the vehicle, then use red on those. As far as how high they are, that shouldn't matter except for forward facing driving lights and maybe the rear tails, depending on your state law.
