Is this abusing AAA's roadside assistance?

I Don't really know where to look on their website for the restrictions...but i may be buying a truck that's about ~100 miles away and if i can't get it to start...i have AAA Plus RV, Which will give me a tow for about 100 miles. i normally could borrow my dads buddy's trailer to tow it home with, but he recently passed away and i don't want to ask about that. plus it would be cheaper. would this be anyway abusing it?

And...where on their website do i find limitations and stuff...i think i
'm looking right over it...( just got the AAA Thing like 2 weeks ago):icon_confused:

You're paying for the coverage, use it. I used the Allstate motor club on my sisters Explorer (which she gave to me at the same time), and they didn't say boo about it.

like shane said, you paid for it so use it. ive heard of people doing worse and getting away with it. as long as it's registered, they really don't care

No that is not abusing the service. Truck can be towed from where it is to where you want it to go. Truck does not have to be registered to you to do this (but might have to be currently registered to be towed.) A few years ago a car/truck could be towed on a flatbed without current reg. Not anymore. At least in California

There are only a few "rules" on when a car can't be towed..

1. Car/truck is being towed to a junk yard.
2. Car/truck is being towed to be painted. (no mechanical trouble)
3. Car/Truck can't use multiple calls to go over your membership miles.

Hope this helps.

About 8 years ago, I bought a truck at a car auction. The brake lines were all bad and I didn't have a way to tow it home. My friend who was with me had AAA, so he called and said he was driving the truck and the brakes went out. It just happened to be sitting in a parking lot next to the car auction, and had an inspection sticker that was about 6 years expired.:D They came to pick it up, and the guy asked if we just bought it at the auction. We said no:rolleyes:, but I'm sure he knew we did. They towed it to my house with no problem.:icon_thumby:

I've used the 100 mile tow several times. Not all of the vehicles were current on their inspection (one wasn't even quite that good, lol). Only once did I have a complaint about towing (an 89 Ranger that turned out to have a bad frame). The guy got lost (despite my directions) trying to find my house, then when he backed in the driveway he clipped the one gate post with his front fender and started screaming about how he should have never towed this "junk" truck. I think it was more that he was pissed about getting lost and then not paying attention to where he was going when he backed in the driveway than anything (as far as the gate post goes, we had triaxles and front discharge concrete mixers in and out of there and nobody hit the posts).

I say use it. I even used the 100 mile tow once just to get a truck close enough to home that I could get it (blew a brake line ~160 miles from home, gave them an address of a shopping center ~100 miles from where I was at, rode with the guy there, then had dad bring the dump truck and trailer to fetch me the rest of the way, lol). If I would have had some tools with me (and some work clothes) I would have either repaired the line or crimped it off good, but I didn't have either (it was one of the rare moments when I didn't have anything more useful than my pocketknife with me).
